District 200 Board President Tom Cofsky and Superintendent Greg Johnson have won the Green Award from the Village of Oak Park’s Environment and Energy Citizens Commission, according to Karin Sullivan, executive Director of communications for the district. Both Cofsky and Johnson were nominated for the award by OPRF senior and president of the Environmental Club Manolo Avalos due to their exemplary leadership of OPRF’s sustainability policy and plan. Avalos, along with other members of the Environmental Club, have worked with Cofsky, Johnson and other leadership to develop the school’s sustainability policy and plan, which includes a 100% reduction of the school’s 2010 gas emissions by 2050.
