Wrestling teams at Oak Park and River Forest High School had successful seasons, with both boys and girls advancing to state tournaments.
Two girls went to state: senior team leaders Sarah Epshtein and Trinity White. Epshtein placed fourth overall, the third All-State finish of her high school career. White “did not have the tournament she planned going in but showed her mettle in battling back to get to the match to be All-State,” according to Head Coach Patrick Woulfe.
On the boys team, four wrestlers went to the individual state finals Feb. 15 to 17 in Champaign: freshman Michael Rundell, juniors Joseph Knackstedt and Eric Harris, and sophomore David Ogunsanya, who placed 6th and earned All-State honors. At team state finals Feb. 23 to 25, OPRF lost in the quarterfinals to Libertyville, according to the IHSA website.
