Ok, so to start off this meeting, I would like to congratulate our team for their hard work and determination because “Titanic” has made $2.26 billion at the box office so far! Such an original idea, such an amazing plot, such great casting and overall such a great movie.
But I’m going to be honest. It feels like we are missing something. I mean, look at “Casablanca”–such an iconic movie, but that was it, the story ended. I think we can go bigger. I’m talking about a “Titanic” sequel. There is so much opportunity here. We could be the next “Percy Jackson,” the next “Harry Potter,” or maybe the next “Star Wars” series. We just need to make sure the sequel is even better than the original. Now I know “Titanic” has a solid ending, and yes the fans aren’t asking for this, but everything gets better with explosions and celebrity cameos, right? So we should stay as close to the original as possible.
The movie would be a modern adaptation of the original and follow the story of Rose’s secret daughter. I was thinking her name could be Rosie. She was sadly abandoned by Rose as a child because Rose was too heartbroken to take care of her. Then, this is a crazy idea, but what if another ship named the Indestructible Titanic is created? In order to learn more about her past, Rosie books a ticket on this “indestructible” ship–which should look just like the original Titanic. We can build tension by insinuating the ship might have the same fate.
Then, on the ship, she learns more about her mom and finds out about her secret love affair with Jack. Rosie starts to interrogate the other people on the ship to try and learn more about what really happened to her father. She finds out about the true story of his tragic death by the janitor, played by Johnny Depp–who turned down a role in the first movie, but trust me, he’ll jump at the chance to play this part. At the climax, we would suddenly pan to all sides of the ship and then have a montage of the enormous iceberg ahead. As all hope is lost and Rosie thinks she will meet the same fate as her dad, her dad’s ghost comes out of the water (played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as Leo DiCaprio isn’t available) and steers the ship away at the last second. We can even make him explode the iceberg with his magical fire powers.
Finally, we would end the movie with a bang, something that no viewer would expect and something that would leave them perplexed. Right as Rosie steps off the ship and she breathes in the fresh air of freedom, she wakes up from a dream. Any thoughts? I expect we could get this project cranked out in a month or so and make another billion dollars from it.
