On Nov. 5, citizens 18 and over will flock to their respective polling places to cast their votes. While this presidential election is highly anticipated, election ballots contain much more than simply one election.
This year many important agendas, statewide positions and local positions are up for election. In order to cast your vote to the best of your ability, the following is a quick look at all the things to expect on the 2024 ballot.

Definitions:
Ranked choice voting: Allows voters to place their top picked candidates on a ranked list from first to last. RCV is applied to General and Primary elections.
Incumbent: The candidate who previously held a position who is now re-running for that same position.

Registration Information:
Citizens who plan to vote in the Nov. 5 election must be registered. Voter registration is available online, by mail or in person. The deadlines for mail and online registration were Oct. 8 and Oct. 20. However, in-person registration is available up to election day. First-time voters may register in person at the following locations:
A Cook County Clerk location
A village, city or township clerk
An Illinois Secretary of State’s driver’s license facility
Other state government offices
Through a deputy registrar
Illinois residents may register to vote if they are 18 or older on Election Day, if they have lived in the jurisdiction for 30 days prior to the election and if they are U.S. citizens.
