NFL week 6, 2021-2022

NFL+week+6%2C+2021-2022

Week 5 Recap:

Raiders: With the resignation of head coach Jon Gruden, the Raiders future looks murky. They have dropped back to back games, now sitting at 3-2. Derek Carr has cooled off after his blistering start, throwing no touchdowns and one interception in last week’s loss to the Bears. With an interim head coach at the helm, I don’t have confidence in the Raiders to get it done.

Jaguars: With all of the craziness surrounding the Jon Gruden situation, people have seemingly forgotten about how much hot water Urban Meyer is in. Not only did he get caught receiving a lap dance from a young woman at a bar, but his team is also 0-5. Trevor Lawrence’s start to his rookie season has been rough, throwing six touchdowns to eight interceptions, for a passer rating of 71.3. The Jaguars simply have no upside and potentially will not win a game this season.

Bills: The Buffalo Bills look like the best team in the league. Josh Allen has carried his great play from the end of last year into this year, and is an early MVP favorite. Last week the Bills defense picked off Patrick Mahomes twice and held the porous Chiefs offense to just 20 points. Conveniently, they play in the worst division in the NFL, which means that their success will likely continue.

Ravens: After playing in another prime time thriller, the Baltimore Ravens sit at 4-1, atop the AFC North. Despite all of the injuries they have endured they have weathered the storm, and are now in a good spot to potentially get a big win against the Chargers. Lamar Jackson continues to shut down his haters, throwing for over 400 yards and four touchdowns vs the Colts.

Cowboys: Coming off a win against the Giants, the Cowboys are first in the NFC East, which is once again one of the worst divisions in the NFL. The Cowboys offense is humming along nicely, as Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 100 yards in back-to-back games and Dak Prescott has had a passer rating above 100 in four out of their five games.

Bears: Despite Matt Nagy being their head coach, the Bears have a winning record and are second in the NFC North. Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn have been a formidable pass rushing duo, combining for nine and a half sacks through five games. Justin Fields looks like he is getting more comfortable running the Bears offense, but the loss of David Montgomery for the next few weeks may sting.

Saints: Jameis Winston is one of the weirdest quarterbacks in the league right now. In one half he had a terrible interception, a 72 yard passing touchdown, and a successful hail-mary at the end of the first half. The Saints sit at 3-2 but have an extremely tough schedule moving forward, and it is hard to feel confident that Jameis will continue to play winning football.

Seahawks: The loss of Russell Wilson for the majority of the season will hurt the Seahawks a lot. Geno Smith may have looked good when he came in the game for the injured Wilson last Thursday, but he is a backup for a reason. His career has been marked by a repeated pattern of poor play, and there is no reason to think that he will play well in the weeks moving forward. It is likely that 2021 will shape up to be a lost season for Seattle.
